Let's get New Age music out of the elevator, please.

Pranamana's mission is to bring enlightening music and audio in a fresh form.

There is plenty already available when it comes to affirmations and positive music on audio. While there is a lot of beautiful New Age music out there, much of it seems to be the same - and stuck in the world of 1982 adult contemporary or 1992 world beat.

Don't get me wrong - I like New Age music. Yes, even the bland stuff. That music is like a warm, soothing blanket on your ears. When I'm giving a Reiki session, I need bland, soothing music. If I'm making a hypnosis audio, I need bland, soothing music. Clients usually don't want too much going on musically when they are trying to relax, meditate, or go into hypnosis.

But I also wanted to hear positive music that was in a form I might actually listen to just to listen to. You know, music that you listen to just because it's modern music that you like, and not because it's got "Om Shanti Shanti Shanti" on the track.

I also wanted affirmations and chants I could play in the car without fear I'd fall asleep or go into a trance state.

Pranamana is attempting to expand the forms that positive audio can be made in. Why can't there be New Age hip-hop, if that's what an artist wants to create?

Pranamana is about exploring new and different ways to express positive messages through music and sound. Some of this is through dance music. Some of it might end up being more meditative and similar to traditional New Age music.

Pranamana should not be put into a box - you'll find spoken word here, music, guided meditations and more. This is an experiment in sound and audio. I'm sure the offerings and music will change as time goes on. Maybe I'll post some yodeling banjo chant music here at some point - who knows.
